Mike has more than 25 years of human resources experience both as in-house HR Manager, Director and Vice President, as well as a seven-year history as an HR Consultant during the high tech boom days in Seattle, Washington.
With solid Generalist credentials, Mike possesses a "hands on" background in employment law (State & Federal), compensation plans, performance management tools and instruments, investigating claims of harassment and discrimination, drug testing, employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting & hiring, mergers & acquisitions, global operations management and international HR.
As an expert in the field of organizational development, Mike has been credited with creating high performance cultures and increasing employee satisfaction, reducing turnover, improving communications and improving organizational efficiency through the expansion of various intranet resources, employee surveys and focus groups, the development and implementation of diversity programs, as well as the creation of employee recognition and rewards programs. As a seasoned Facilitator, Adjunct Faculty Member and Trainer, Mike is certified to facilitate a variety of team building exercises and has worked with executive teams in the development and execution of strategic planning sessions, as well as the development of a corporations mission and values statements to enhance the culture and create a common vision.
Additionally, Mike has been a Guest Lecturer at various professional seminars/workshops and has designed numerous leadership development and training programs – from the first line Supervisor all the way up to the Executive team. Some of the most commonly requested topics include: employment law, sexual harassment, behavioral interviewing, performance management (coaching counseling & disciplining), business writing and professional communications.
Mike's educational accomplishments include a double Bachelor's degree in HR Management and Interpersonal Communications, a Master's degree from Marquette University in Organizational Behavior, and a Master's degree in HR Management from Drake University. Mike is also a graduate of UCLA's Anderson School of Business: Executive Leadership Institute.
